ESWL Shockwave Lithotripsy in Noida

Non-Surgical Stone Breaking With Sound Waves

ESWL treats suitable stones using focused shock waves from outside the body—no scopes, no cuts. The waves are targeted under ultrasound/X-ray to fragment the stone into passable pieces over days to weeks, making ESWL an attractive outpatient option.

Who is a good candidate? Stones typically up to ~1.5 cm in the kidney or upper ureter with favorable density and location. If you prefer to avoid anesthesia or invasive procedures, ESWL can be ideal. Some patients may need a second sitting, depending on stone hardness and size. A temporary stent may be advised to help fragments pass comfortably.

Advantages & limitations: ESWL avoids incisions and anesthesia, but fragments pass gradually—mild colic or urinary burning may occur. Certain stones (very hard or lower-pole) may clear better with RIRS/URS. With 14+ years of expertise, Dr Lok will review CT parameters and help you choose the most effective, least disruptive option.

Follow-up: You’ll receive hydration guidance, pain relief as needed, and scheduled imaging to confirm clearance. If fragments persist, a complementary endoscopic procedure might be suggested to ensure you end up stone-free.
